This oughtta end all this KG to Boston talk….
Garnett’s agent, Andy Miller, told ESPN.com’s Chris Sheridan that Garnett made it known to the Wolves and Celtics late Wednesday that he had no interest in playing for Boston. The implication was clear: If Minnesota dealt him to Boston, Garnett would opt out of his contract next summer.
“The Boston trade isn’t happening,” Miller told Sheridan on Thursday. “If a trade were to happen, that’s not a destination that we’re interested in pursuing.”
So there it is. Enough of the rumors. It ain’t happening.
It should be noted that ESPN’s Marc Stein wrote that Ainge and McHale did agree in principle to the trade. Here are the latest terms:
The latest incarnation of the deal, according to sources, would have required the Celtics to send blossoming forward Al Jefferson, its No. 5 overall pick in next Thursday’s draft and Theo Ratliff’s cap-friendly contract in addition to Wolves alumnus Wally Szczerbiak and troubled guard Sebastian Telfair in exchange for Garnett and Wolves guard Troy Hudson.
On a separate note, while some uneducated Celtics fans are begging for Ainge to trade anything & everything for Garnett, there’s those in Minnesota who believe he’s not worth it. Here’s a snip-it from Patrick Reusse’s column in the Star-Tribune:
Garnett turned 31 in May. He has gone from an MVP three seasons ago to a player no longer among the NBA’s top 10. With Garnett as the face of the franchise, the Wolves have plummeted in the standings, in ticket sales and in television ratings.
But wait, there’s more.
The trade bandied about by Chad Ford has Garnett going to Boston for four players — Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green and Sebastian Telfair — and the No. 5 overall selection. Obviously, this is way too optimistic on the ransom the Wolves could obtain for Garnett.
Catch my drift. It’s not a good deal. Even those in Minnesota know it’s so lopsided, it won’t happen.
alright to the reds army world i love you guys man you guys are the ones that should be running the celtics right now and thanks for all the info you guys put up. I live out here in florida so gettin all of this is great.
Alright i agree kevin garnett is not worth losing probably the best post player in the league(jefferson) and losing rising star gerald green and getting rid of a fifth pick no way in hell would that work for us. The suns deal might work out i mean we get to keep al and green and lose our fifth and we would get shawn marion which is a great player. The celts would have a solid crew for next season but honestly mark my words celtics will win 50 or more games next season and will make it to the eastern confrence finals and lose to chicago assuming the big baby kobe bryant gets traded there
Thanks Nivaldo… that means a lot to us.
I personally have come to the realization that a player that we like is going to get traded… probably because I like a lot of guys on this team. But this KG deal was nuts. I hope it was a bit overblown.

Hey guys…
Even as a Lakers fan, I was pretty disappointed to see the KG deal go south. Would’ve started the ball rolling in what I *think* is going to be a pretty interesting off-season!
