If you are going to attend a game, it might as well be a nail-biter. Forget the fact that the C’s blew a 15-pt 4th quarter lead. The sellout crowd wanted drama! How else were we going to see those jumbotron video clips of Hoosiers and 300 (I can’t believe they didn’t play the scene from Rocky II), and get whipped up into a frenzy.
As for the game, KG was awesome. Just so fluid for a big man. Rondo appeared to be everywhere and his line proved it (9 pts, 10 asst, 7 reb). This was the worst I’ve ever seen Paul Pierce play (we now know he was dealing with a back strain, see below). The Celtics bench (directly in my line of sight) stood for most of the game. Shaq is still huge.
File these under non-game related thoughts: Driving around Boston blows. I was pleased beer was only $6.25. A majority of fans were actually wearing Celtics t-shirts and jerseys (I haven’t seen that in years). While it’s nice to see hot girls on the floor, the Celtics dancers have some awful routines. Please drop those goofy jumbotron spots in which Celtics players try to spark the crowd.
And finally, how long I am entitled to stay mad at my wife for not catching Paul Pierce’s wristband after he flung it into the crowd?
Today’s links: Globe – Celts challenged | Pierce’s back strain | Herald – Celts feel Heat | Posey fired up | Another team for Ricky Davis | Isiah to be fired?
How close did the wristband come to you?
I can just see you wearing it around at work all week… over your dress shirt sleeve.
your sight is like the Celtics last year! It leaves a lot to be desired. It will not load right and a click on the box score brings up an error. Maybe you should let Kevin Garnet run this sight>
Thanks Bruce.
We’re working on it. You know anyone who’ll design a site for $5?
The box score link is fixed.
You can’t really take someone seriously who spells site “sight”.
And Chuck, I don’t think you can say it was one of the worst games Paul has played…. part of the reason his numbers were down was because of foul trouble which resulted from him volunteering to guard Wade when really Allen should have been. And a few of the fouls were absolute bs.
You know I watched that movie (celtic pride) the other day and even though Ive never met you guys I was thinking of all the redsarmy Cs fans when theyre in the garden switching seats and finally theyre left all alone after the Cs lost. I mean it takes a true fan to watch virtually every game for the last bunch of years, especially last year.
BTW john I wouldve loved to see you sucker punch mark blount while he was cheerleading for his buddy ricky davis at the end. You might even have a karalis #87 retired for that one.
Hey… my offer still stands.
In fact… I’ll pay my own airfare down to Miami to do it on THEIR home court.
C’mon Celtics… you’ve got one roster spot open. The standing offer is on the table
Paul flicked his headband first…and that came within a foot of my grasp. Some chick caught it and said “Oohh its all sweaty.” Then he flicked the wristband which came to our left (the wife was on the left), she reached but some douchebag beat her to it. Fortunately he gave it to a kid in front of us. Something I probably wouldn’t have done. And yes, I would have worn the headband too.
I’m not blaming Paul. With the back strain and foul trouble, I’m sure most guys would have given up. But he still had the balls to take and make the last shot. My point was, regardless of the reasons, I’v seen him play better.
As for Bruce….LMB.
