Did you have enough turkey and stuffing? Are you fully rested? I hope so because it’s time for serious business. The biggest jerk-off in NBA history is coming to town tonight and he’s bringing his fraud coach along with 12 other guys who think purple-and-gold are cool colors. This may be the “biggest” Celtics – Lakers game in 15 years. Okay, I might have the hype machine cranked up a bit, but WE are ready for this game. I admit, I’m embarassed by the Kobe-MVP chants that rained down from the Garden rafters the last time the Lakers were in Boston.
”It’s the most amazing feat in basketball that won’t ever show up in the record books,” longtime Lakers trainer Gary Vitti said incredulously at the time. “Boston fans yelled “M-V-P” for our guy.”
Let me assure you, make that guarantee you, nothing like that will EVER happen again. Now throw in the fact that every Laker fan, including Kobe himself, are jealous of the C’s because we got Garnett and they didn’t. (That concept would make for a good web site.) Presto, the rivalry is reborn. This Lakers team (7-4) is overachieving so far, so I expect a 15-point Celtics victory. But most of the no-nothing national media probably think this is a good test for both teams.
While we are chomping at the bit to watch this one, Laker fans won’t have to rush back from their manicure appointments because the game is on tape delay. Yup, tape delay. KCAL is starting the game an hour later. Imagine if Comcast tried that b.s. around here.
Want another reason why L.A. sucks? Take L.A. Times reporter Mike Bresnahan. In today’s article, “Lakers big win in Boston last year is a memory,” Bresnahan points out how the Lakers destroyed the Celtics last year and reminds us of the MVP chant. But this idiot got the scores and Kobe point totals mixed up from the games (LA beat the C’s 111-98 in Boston last year, and 122-96 in LA). Feel free to drop Mike an email (mike.bresnahan@latimes.com) and let him know about the mistake.
UPDATE: Bresnahan was kind enough to personally reply to my email.
Hey chuck,
Thanks for the e-mail. I appreciate the time you took to write to me.
You are correct. The Lakers media guide had the scores incorrectly transposed from last season’s games. It’ll be the final time I rely on that source, I guess :)
Thanks again for the e-mail, chuck.

Can’t remember a game in recent history that has gotten me this excited. For me, I’d have to go back to game 7 against the Pacers three years ago.
I’ll be sporting my “no Kobe” shirt at the game tonight, that’s for sure. It will be interesting to see how the C’s guard the rapist. I assume that Paul will take him to start the game, but we might see more Tony Allen or James Posey tonight to take some pressure off Paul. I would expect a big night from Ray Allen…. as it is about time. C’s struggle to pull ahead but finally do in the fourth and win it 105-92.
Honestly… tape delay? WTF? Tape delay in the age of the internet is just dumb. The people who care will find out what happens.. as it happens.
Besides… people have their own tape delay if they want it… It’s called a DVR. Record the game and watch it when you get home if you want.
I’d be pissed if I was in LA. Then again… I’d be pissed if I was in LA for many reasons.
Some 12 hours after Bresnahan acknowledged the errors in his article, it STILL wasn’t fixed. Hello editors at the LA Times, it takes 3 minutes to update a web site. Good lord…that’s ridiculous.
