Not Of This World

kevin garnett is freakin' awesome!

He just won’t let us lose.

Every day I say “I wonder if this is the day KG coasts a little”… or “there’s no way KG can bring it like that again today.”

But he can.  He does it every day.  I get the feeling this guy thumps his chest and yells after cooking a steak.  It’s unreal.  He’s relentless… like a kid who won’t stop bugging his parents for something (oh… say… like in this video)… opponents have no choice but to give in to his will.

The Celtics did everything I thought they would last night.  They couldn’t hold a big lead…. they were too tired to even really make much of a comeback… but I guess I made the same mistake everyone else did:  I underestimated KG.  I thought he was human enough to even get caught up in the night off.  He’s clearly not… at least not right right now.  Right now KG will run through walls like the Kool Aid man.   I’ve just never seen anyone ever play with this kind of energy before.  He’s got all the wild desire that Larry Bird had… but Larry didn’t have a ton of emotion.  KG is nothing but.  It makes him larger than life.  And it makes him say things like this:

“It’s been cool,” said Garnett. “It’s been a lot of hard work. It’s been fun. It’s fun coming into practice every day.”

As he was speaking, Pierce’s stomach growled audibly from the seat next to him.

“Is that your stomach?” KG asked.

Pierce nodded.

“His gas is high. You need to turn your gas down.

“See this is what I’m talking about. This is fun every day. It stays interesting.”

Maybe that’s why I still sit there sometimes and think to myself  “oh man… Kevin Garnett is a BOSTON CELTIC!!”

  1. I’m thinking of starting a new website called Pollardsmoreofabeast.com. Perk has not looked good the last couple of games. Tony Allen has great momentum, one way or the other,it like if you are with a hot chick and about ready give her the good stuff, and in walks the hot lesbian roommate or it could be your mother.
that is kinda what you get when tony checks in either super great or not going to score. Great win last night Garnett and the C’s can’t be stopped.

  2. [...] keep rolling with 97-93 win over Rockets Celtics 17   Nice try Houston  Red’s Army    Not of this world Hoopsworld    NBA’s Top five benches KG propels Celtics past Rockets Connecticut [...]

  3. Are you kidding me! Perk Had a great Defensive game on Yao. Yao was something like 2 for 11 the first half when perk was covering him… Did Yao just happen to miss those 9 shots by accident. I don’t think so, Perk was all over him not Allowing him to get in the paint & comfortable.

If your going to start a new website it should be Garnettisabeast.com. He was out of his mind yesterday.

  4. I didn’t see Perk’s defense as something great. Sorry…

  5. Perk is definitely the weakest link of the starting five. He’s a decent defender and a decent rebounder but can barely score. I don’t see an abundance of hustle out of him either.

I’ve been impressed with TA’s ability to get the basket lately, but the guy’s a non-finisher. It’s like there’s a piece of plywood over the bucket when he shoots.

  6. Great call Bill, I don’t see an abundance of hustle out of him either. I think you nailed it, either way we can’t be stopped

  7. Fine he’s defense wasn’t great but it was good.
Your right Perk is definitely the weak link. But he’s here to do one thing and one thing only & thats play defense & push people around! Bill unfortunately I also have to agree Perk hasn’t been Hustling of late.

  8. I’ve been a T-Wolves fan since the first day of the franchise. KG gives it like that every night. He always has.

  9. When KG hit that bucket, then started flipping out holding up the Celtics’ script on his jersey and pointing at, screaming at the top of his lungs, that seriously is one of my favirote moments as a Celtics fan. I’m a little too young to remember the 80’s teams, so I dont have much to work with, but last night, that was just great.

  10. So I assume the Pierce/KG piggyback will be the pic the rejuvenates the caption contest. I already have 5 good ideas.
