Garnett had 23 points… Pierce had 23 points… Allen had 20… the other Allen had 2.
Standard night in Celtics land… except that it was TONY Allen with the 20 points… and Ray Allen scored his only 2 points of the game on 2 free throws in the final seconds of the game. The Celtics managed to fend off the Grizzlies 100-96 in a largely uninspired performance.
Uninspired, however, doesn’t really apply to Tony Allen, who woke up in a huge way today to score 15 of his 20 points in the second quarter. It was perhaps the most important performance of the night because someone needed to step up at that point. The C’s went into halftime with a 2 point lead… but who knows how much they would have been down if Tony wasn’t hitting.
This was one of those nights. I think most guys were looking to the Pistons game. Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen shot a combined 2 of 18 with 9 turnovers. Rondo, uncharacteristically, turned it over 6 times with only 1 assist and no steals. Ray, uncharacteristically, was 0-9 from the field. Good thing our bench contributed 46 points and 16 rebounds.
It’s looking more and more like even when we have an “off” night… someone on this team decides that we’re not going to lose. It was KG the other night… Tony and the bench tonight. It’s sorta special.

that is the tony allen i fell in love with last year before his injury…. hes still not 100% but effective nontheless…. GO CELTS
It’s so frustrating though because it’s all in his head. He could have been doing this earlier.
I guess I shouldn’t be frustrated. We’re 27-3. I just know he can be better than what he’s been
28-3.
I absolutely love TA. And his uncle who I am close acquaintances with.
