I’m not talking about the MTV dance show from mid 90s. (For those wondering, John was a regular cast member during the summer of 93.) I’m talking about the NBA season. 82 games is no picnic, even for great teams like the Celtics. You’re going to have a lull. And that’s my reasoning for last night’s 85-78 loss to the Wizards. The Wiz brought the energy, the Celtics did not (see Washington’s 49-30 rebounding advantage as proof). The C’s attempted to steal this one in the final minute but due to circumstances beyone their control - a horrible non-24-second-shot-clock-violation call by the refs on a Wizards possession and a ridiculous Antonio Daniels 3-pter – a victory wasn’t meant to be. Regardless of a second loss in three games, the Celtics are still the best team in the league.
Speaking of the grind, Rondo missed the game due to his bruised back and he’s questionable for Monday’s game.
“I’m hitting the floor a lot,” Rondo said. “It’s starting to catch up to me. I fell pretty hard. I was going full speed.”
And Big Baby says his right knee is still bothering him.

The Celtics have won 30 games and possess the best record in the league. At this point…that’s all you can say. Like most haters, you pin your hopes on the unknown – the playoffs. When the Celtics advance to the finals, you’ll be nowhere to be found.
