I hope the guys will get this message loud and clear today. Maybe they already have.
Shut up and play.
Paul Pierce got tossed because he was stupid enough to get caught up in a jawing match with Quentin Richardson. Quentin Richardson. Who wins in that situation? Count Doc among the disappointed:
“I told them to be quiet and play the game. So I was disappointed in us in that. It wasn’t just Paul. It was five of us.
“All of us were running our mouths instead of just playing basketball. The scoreboard will talk all right. You don’t have to run your mouths. I wasn’t happy with that.”
You’re not alone.
Look. I love passion. And I understand that when you play with a lot of emotion… it’s going to come out at times in a negative way. But watching Paul get tossed like that was infuriating. Looking up the league leaders in techical fouls and seeing Kendrick Perkins and Paul Pierce at 1 and 2 (and KG at 9) is nauseating. We’ve got a great team here… I’d hate to see something special marred because guys can’t keep their mouths shut.

well, as tommy and gorman said yesterday, i think it was harder/ less important for paul to contain himself because it was the knicks and what the score said. its 2008 now. paul being out of a game doesnt mean a loss anymore.
there have been more technicals this season, but i think its largely a result of teams that aren’t as good as us doing a lot of hacking, and no-calls get an argument from the celtics player, who then gets a technical. or occasionally a player gets tackled and then gets a technical. i mean we’re not exactly the bad boy pistons here, almost all of our technicals have been from talking to the refs. and i don’t think we can question the character of any of the guys on the team, so i don’t know whats to worry about.
plus, i have to think part of the blame/credit for all these technicals comes from the new found intensity and defense which largely comes from kg. and i’d rather lead the league in technicals and wins then hunt for a lottery pick again.
also, ryan gomes how i miss you.
You should be able to be intense, but smart enough to know when to back off on the refs. You want them to be your friend.
What Pierce did was just plain stupid….
That Minnasoata game was something special. Telfair had 15 and 7 including one absurd no-look pass, Jefferson had 20 and 10 and Gomes did his MJ impression. Also, to top it all off, Toine played 7 minutes took 4 shots, all of them threes.
Its obvious Tim that Minnesota is your favorite team. Let go of the C’s and cheer on the Wolves.
the wolves should just move down to the d-league and be our developmental team.
and then move the lakers back to minnesota so they can still have an nba team. at least LA will still have the clippers.
The Wolves are a disaster… but I still like Al Jefferson and Ryan Gomes. I think those are very good players. They have an opportunity to start over with those two guys as supporting players… they just need a superstar. As much as I love Al… I don’t think he’s “take the game over” superstar. I think they need a big time PG. If OJ Mayo doesn’t turn out to be a total douche… he can help them.
i agree that al isn’t a superstar. its not necessarily because of his skills and he’s still young, but i think he just lacks that attitude (for better or worse). i’m still hoping gomes will jump ship at the end of his contract and come back to c’s, but that seems less likely if he keeps having 35 point games.
they are a mess…but at least its not the we-have-the-veterans-and-superstars-and-should-be-winning-but-suck- mess that the heat are in. they have the 1st round picks they got from the c’s and probably their own lottery pick this year…they could build.
and hey there’s still the chance that gerald green could be that superstar… but im not holding my breath.
Was McHale helping Danny out with the KG trade or was it just a bad move on his end? Because they got a lot worse after the trade. I sorta feel bad for him.
I don’t really understand the whole “Kevin was helping Danny” thing. It makes no sense.
Look…. they just couldn’t do it with KG anymore. They had to start over. Yes, they blow this year, but this trade was never about this year for them. They are building for the future.
They have a young core of Jefferson, Corey Brewer, Randy Foye and Rashad McCants. They’re 9 million under the cap right now… and Ratliff’s 11.6 mil is coming off after this season. If they want to cut more salary, Telfair’s 2.5 mil, Gerald Green’s 1.4 mil, and Michael Doleac’s 3.2 mil are all up after this year.
So they’re really young, and they’ve got a ton of cap flexibility. That means they really suck right now, but they at least have a chance to rebuild.
Minnesota was never going anywhere in the West with KG and nothing else. They had to make a move… and they had to send him East. Kevin liked the Boston deal better… probably because it included the best young player offered (Jefferson), a possible key role player (Gomes), a young guy with potential that could go either way (Gerald Green) and $14 million in cap room after this year (Telfair and Ratliff).
You don’t understand?
Did you see who was offered from the Lakers and Bulls vs who they got from Boston?
A-Kevin now has a job here in Boston when he is eventually (and rightfully) fired from the Timberwolves.
B- He will never be booed again
C- Unless he is the worst judge of talent next to Danny Ainge he really thinks Al Jefferson is going to be able to lead his team to a title? If anything that proves he is missing a lot of brain mass.
McHale made this trade to help Danny because they are friends. Jefferson is a poor mans Garnett (he doesn’t attempt to play defense and has no clue how to pass the ball) Garnett couldn’t do anything alone so Jefferson has no shot at all.
I read it somewhere online and it made sense. Jefferson is getting to do whatever he wants on the court to justify the KG for nothing trade and the team is not winning in spite of Jeffersons stats because he is not a great player that can lead a team to a title especially when he refuses to pass the ball. He won’t play nice with other players. I have already heard many of Al’s teammates don’t like him.
That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard
