Magic Number: 15

kevin garnettIf you’re ever watching a Celtics game and they happen to go up by 15 at any point… turn off the TV… go to bed… the game is over.

The Celtics are now 28-0 after building a 15 point lead this season.  They crossed the 15 point mark early in the third quarter of their game against the Clippers… and only built it from there… ending their road trip with a 104-76 demolition of the Clippers.

The Celtics kinda looked bored through the first half of this game… but then they ratcheted up the defense in the second half and cruised.  The C’s spread the offense around (5 guys in double figures… Posey and Pierce led all scorers with 17 apiece) while shooting 55%.  They held the Clippers to 40%… and held an 8-2 blocked shot advantage.

Next up:  Cleveland… and our buddy Delonte West.  That should be a fun scene on Wednesday.

  1. The 28-0 shows they are a veteran team, not prone to lapses. Even though its seems commonplace for NBA teams to blow double-digit leads, I wonder how other teams fare in that dept. John, can you have the interns gather that information?

  2. Yes…Wednesday will definitely be a scene. I can’t wait to see how our newly created roster looks against a top contender team, as the Grizzlies were, by far, no measuring stick.

If we win this game with a roster that was finalized less than a week ago, will have only played 2 games together, with 2 important shooting guards (Gibson and Sasha) out, and our active forward/center, Varejao, listed as TBD (To Be Determined)…

The Celtics better start rethinking their strategy going into the last month or so of regular season play before the playoffs.
