I hate to say I told ya so Houston… but…
After a back-and-forth, kinda ugly first half… the Celtics came out in the third quarter and knocked the Rockets around. They doubled Houston up 32-16 in the third… and ended up winning this one by 20: 94-74.
A few things stood out for me:

The Rockets are one of the better offensive rebounding teams in the league… but James Posey put an end to that in the 3rd. Posey ended the game with no points, and 10 boards. Houston managed 11 offensive rebounds in the game… most of them in the first half… which is why it was even close at halftime.

Tony Allen’s defense on Tracy McGrady needs to be highlighted. TMac finished with 8 points on 4-11 shooting. Allen did a great job before going down with a bruised back. The defense in general was very good (as usual) tonight. Houston’s big scorers McGrady, Alston and Battier were a combined 9 of 28.

Speaking of Tony Allen’s back… we’ve got a new guy to hate: Luis Scola. He’s got all the the ingredients: He takes cheap shots… he bitches all the time… he’s an ugly foreigner… it’s perfect.

And the night after a DNP, Leon Powe came off the bench to score 21 points on 8-12 shooting in less than 21 minutes of play. How can you not love that guy (and how can you not buy this shirt to express that love?)
I want to take a break from being a smug prick to give much-deserved props to Houston for its 22 game streak. People will look at their schedule and say they beat a bunch of weak teams… but that’s bull. 22 wins in a row is absolutely amazing. If the Lakers had done it against the exact same schedule, ESPN would be blowing them every chance they got. The closest thing the Rockets have to a huge, marketable star is Yao (sorry TMac… your time has passed). Its hard for major networks to sell Scola, Battier and Alston… so they’re all happy this is over. Now they can go back to following their pre-determined storylines.

huge win….theres no doubt that they’re a top level team in the nba..i don’t care if they’re in the east
again..huge win..they basically bitchsmacked “we won 22 straight” rockets…especially after mutumbo’s stuid finger wag 30 seconds into the game
