While there is still no “official” word from the Celtics (a.k.a: no quote from Danny that says “no we have not made a qualifying offer”), there is no indication that the Celtics have extended an offer to Tony Allen.
The NBA’s transactions page was updated at 1:15 am, and it did not include an offer to Tony Allen. Therefore, I’m working on the assumption that Tony Allen is a free agent. HOWEVER, there’s also no indication that James Posey has opted out of his contract… which we all know he’s going to do. I’ll update this post if anything new happens overnight.
—- UPDATE —
We have removed the question mark from the headline…Tony Allen was not extended a qualifying offer… he is now an unrestricted free agent.
it also doesnt say that baron opted out which he apparently did
yeah…. they must just be slow in reporting those transactions…. or the league is slow in approving them. They just listed the Antawn Jamison resigning.
i thought they would at least make him a qualifying offer so if teams did lowball him we could bring him back for cheap
but like i said earlier, with how the celtics drafted i just didnt see both posey and tony coming back
