With no movement on the free agent front yet, everyone is starting to look at the position the Celtics are taking. With the euphoria of the championship starting to wear off a little, more people are starting to think that giving a 32 year old a 5 year deal that leaves you little room to sign others is a bad idea. I have to admit… it’s a solid argument. And my only counter is “Yeah… but its Posey!” But the Celtics are taking a very Patriots-like approach… which we can all appreciate. As much as it sucked to see Adam Vinatieri go… it was the right move.
Also out there… Scott Souza tells us about Bill Walker’s positive outlook. Marc Spears wonders if the Spurs golden age is over. ESPN is really looking ahead… to the 2008 free agent class…and 2009 and 2010 too.
And there is a bit of a controversy brewing because Billy Donovan accepted Austin Rivers’ commitment to Florida… even though he’s in 8th grade. The coach’s association had recently said it would wait until a player’s junior year in high school. It was in response to what Kentucky coach Billy Gillespie had been doing. But now Donovan did it… and no one seems upset. Kentucky fans are NOT happy.
