Corey Maggette scored a 5-year, $50 million deal with Golden St (So much for taking less to play for a winner). Mickael Pietrus hauled in a 4-year, $25 million contract with Orlando. James Jones grabbed a 5-year, $20 million deal with Miami. Three potential replacements for James Posey are history. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now making a hard push at the Mongoose. While I am starting to sweat, Danny Ainge remains calm and cool as other teams start gobbling up players:

With that said, a league source told Steve Bulpett the Celtics are poised to give Posey a fourth year at the mid-level exception. Marc Spears also reports the Celtics have improved their offer. The Pietrus signing means Orlando has little use for Keyon Dooling, a guy who could end up with the Celtics. There’s a report out of Denver which indicates Sam Cassell will resign with the Celtics. And filed under “my head would explode if this happens,” Stephon Marbury has Boston on his mind:
His friends say Marbury isn’t worried about future employment if released. The Celtics would be on his radar, considering they need point-guard help and former teammate Kevin Garnett respects his game more than anyone.

I read somewhere that Dooling was going to resign with Orlando. Hey don’t look now but the East is going to get alittle more interesting… Well atleast the 2 through 8 seeds. C’s are still on top.

I don’t think we really wantes Peitrus anyway, very spotty player but then Orlando was willing to overpay for Shard too, so they deserve what they get. If we can’t get Posey and we want to steal from Nelly Matt Barnes would be a better value than Pietrus. Here’s hoping we get Posey.
Proven. Any other replacement for Posey is NOT Posey. Corey was a different talent and worth the gamble. Now that he’s off the table Posey needs to be our centerpiece.
