Paul Pierce was in New York last night to be on Conan (video coming at some point soon)… but he graciously took time to advise the Knicks. The advice? Get rid of Stephon Marbury:
“He makes the biggest contract and he’s one of the oldest players on the team,” Pierce said. “That doesn’t really fit into a rebuilding plan, just to be honest.
“I’d try to trade him or buy him out at this point,” added Pierce, who still believes Marbury can be a starting point guard in the NBA. “I just think he needs a fresh start somewhere else. Marbury needs to be on a veteran team where he fits into what they’re trying to do a little bit more.”
I wouldn’t be too worried about giving the Knicks advice either if I were The Truth. They won’t be good again until he’s at the podium at Springfield. Pierce could donate them his salary over the rest of his contract and they’ll still be bad.
Oh wait… they just signed Chris Duhon. I forgot… that’s the answer.
Here’s the Conan video:

On the Knicks note, I think it’s none of his business. He’s understandably high on his own fame right now, in light of the MVP win and what not, but that’s far from making him a management authority. On another team, at that.
