O’Bryant is Lazy

Why would Golden State let a 7-foot, 260-pound center who they selected with a lottery pick in 2006 just walk away? Because he is immature and lazy. At least that’s what I’m reading. But we’re all thinking the same thing, including Danny Ainge.

“The presence of veteran guys, especially Kevin Garnett, will be a blessing for [O'Bryant] seeing that work ethic,” Ainge said. “Perkins, Leon [Powe], Big Baby [Glen Davis] work really hard. We’ve done a good job developing our big guys.”

The deal is for $3 million over two years, so its not like this kid is a major financial risk. And if he’s a total disaster, the Celtics will go out and get a veteran big man at the trade deadline (keep P.J. Brown’s number handy, Danny).

On the James Posey front, there’s nothing new. Bartelstein says 6 or 7 teams have interest and are trying to clear cap room so they can make an offer. Translation: No team has offered more than the Celtics but we are waiting and hoping. Posey will be back and so will Eddie House, that’s my gut feeling.

And Paul Pierce finally had an MRI on his right knee. The official diagnosis is a sprained MCL and bone bruise.

Around the league, the Clippers are trying to pry Zach Randolph from New York; Dallas, Miami, the Lakers and several other teams want Ron Artest and Utah might be shopping Carlos Boozer.

  1. I love this move. I couldn’t agree with you more that with this move and him coming to town surrounded by veteran guys (now proven winners) that O’Bryant could be a Corey Dillon-esque move. I am not saying he’s as good as Dillon, but he has a lot of bad “press” like Corey did and we all know how that turned out.

  2. Does this mean that their not going to sign Robert Swift? And what ever happened to JR Bremer?

  3. I’d say Swift is out… who knows about Bremer.
