The Clippers and their cap space have managed to steal Marcus Camby
Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers will only have to surrender a future second-round pick to acquire Camby, who is being jettisoned into the Clippers’ salary-cap space vacated by Brand to generate payroll relief for the Nuggets
He’s not Elton Brand… but the ability to pick up Camby for almost nothing like that is a no-brainer.
Now if they can grab Iggy, Josh Smith or Emeka with the cash they have? Watch out Flakeshow!
Why would the Nuggets do this? They have no center at all now. Nene barely plays at all because he is always injured. Camby was the defensive player of the year last year and for the last couple of years could have easily been named an all-star had he scored more points. What are the nuggets doing? Are they going to trade Carmelo Anthony next or something ?
They did it because they owe $13 million in luxury tax from last year, and they’re too cheap to keep paying it. They literally just gave Marcus Camby away to save money.
Hot damn. Hot diggity damn.
JTB is right on. If I’m Denver… I might do the same thing (although I’d try for more than 1 2nd round pick). Why pay that much tax for an 8th seed?
This means Denver’s never gonna go past the 1st round of the playoffs. That is, if they reach the playoffs. In other news, Celtics still champs!
For the first time in the internet era, there’s such a thing as a “Celtics Blog.” After averaging about 32 wins per season in the last 20 years, you guys are all fired up. But your flames will be extinguished this fall, when the Lake Show returns. This time, our STARTING CENTER won’t be injured. You’ll face a better team with a 7′1″, 290 lb. monster in the middle. We’ll see who’s “soft” after the Lakers win the next 3 NBA titles.
I know the Celtics were great in the 1800’s or whatever, but in the MODERN era, there is NO sports franchise as great as the Los Angeles Lakers – not even the great NY Yankees. And this next Laker dynasty will eradicate any doubt in your little leprechaun-loving brains.
This is highway robbery, LA seems to land good big men for next to nothing.. hmm….
Once again, who are the champs? Say it with me, CELTICS! Keep dreaming Kurt Rambis I love reading these posts because it really makes me happy to see how bad u took that series, or should I say blowout?
Call McHale. Someone needs to get clotheslined once again hehe.
You know what this means guys? Jelani Mccoy is going to become the starting center of the Denver Nuggets next season. I can’t wait.
I can’t stop laughing at Lakers fan. They just got their asses kicked and they continue to talk smack. I’ve reached the point where I feel embarassed for them.
As for Denver, I understand the move, its too bad they had to trade away their best defensive player to cut costs.
I think the current Denver experiment is over – trade talks revolving around ‘Melo and Iverson’s contracting ending soon…
Non-plussed over here. Camby’s good but he’s kind of overrated and he’s 34. Wasn’t he pretty healthy last year? What are the odds he makes it through two seasons in a row? Not good, I imagine.
I can understand if Denver doesn’t want to pay big on the lux tax for a gutless team that got obliterated in the playoffs (by far Denver played the worst of the teams in the playoffs). They need to mix it up; trading Iverson would be a good way to keep it going.
Denver will not make the playoffs next year.
