Big Al Tears ACL

He’s out indefinitely.

Al Jefferson, the Timberwolves’ best player, will likely miss the rest of the season with a torn knee ligament. He suffered the injury Sunday night in New Orleans near the end of the Wolves’ 101-97 loss to the Hornets.

This really does make me sad.  Big Al is not just talented, but he seems to be one of the genuine nice guys in the NBA.  I hope he comes back quickly.

  1. That definitely sucks big time. I was in Minneapolis this weekend and they were saying the same thing people in Boston say about Big Al, that he is super consistent and should have made the all-star team. Bummer that happens to such a likable guy.

  2. I’m with you guys on this one…Big Al is a guy thats hard not to root for. Especially after what he did for the C’s during an especially tough time. Heres to hoping that Big Al returns with a vengeance, to tear up the west again at the beginning of next year.

  3. Bummer it happened to him. REALLY nice guy. But when he was here in Boston I always feared that he was injury prone.

  4. Gentelman, our big is here. Get this man a workout for Danny.

Pops Menah-Bonsu, currently playing for the Austin Toros (so he’s available):

    25.5ppg, 11.5rpg, 2.5assts, 2 stls, 3.25blocks, 4 turnovers per game.

6’10 leaper/athlete out of GW a couple years ago. Been bouncing back and forth between Europe and D-League. He’s a hustle body to bang/finisher for down low.

  5. Didn’t Pops play for the Mavericks? Either way, I think Ainge will make a run for an older big guy, Pops is pretty young.

  6. I vaguely remember another “Pop” as well who played for Dallas. I think that was Pape Sow…Too bad about Al. He is a great guy who doesn’t get into trouble, is respectful and doesn’t have “I’m the Man” tattooed on his neck. Hopefully it doesn’t kill his career. Did anyone see that cheap, cowardly shot D.West took at Mike Miller in that same game? See it here: http://www.jameyburke.blogspot.com/

  7. Wishing Al J. a quick recovery and come back strong next year.

  8. Tragic news

Minnesota were becoming a joy to watch too, ah well. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

  9. just when he was really making people sit up and take notice of his game…:(

get well soon, big al. we’re rootin’ for ya.

  10. Seen Pops playing last year in Treviso… not that much of a deal in my opinion.
