Any Guesses?

The Celtic starters for tonight remain a mystery that Rivers apparently is unwilling to share. Asked who would open at point guard and power forward, the coach replied by text message, “We will have our coin toss later.”

Even though Stephon Marbury’s has a few more practices under his belt, I’m guessing Doc starts Eddie House tonight in Miami. Leon Powe will probably get the call at power forward.

The Heat are coming off a wild double-overtime win Monday night against the Bulls. I’ll have more on Dwayne Wade’s incredible play…later today.

The Patriot Ledger’s Jim Fenton examines Ray Allen’s remarkable accuracy at the free throw line:

Since missing a free throw against the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day, Allen has made a remarkable 110 of his last 111 tries at the line.

After the jump….a hot actress (looking very average I must say) who witnessed the Cavs comeback in LA.

  1. Give Steph the start and play him 30 minutes.

  2. Okay, so the lighting is bad for that photo. But there isn’t a dude who visits this site who wouldn’t tap that ass.

  3. I’de hit it!

  4. John wouldn’t – he hates her.

  5. Well.. she’s not in my fave 5… but I would still hit it.

  6. She is average with or without a makeover but I’d hit it too hahaha.

Give Walker some burn – Roll the dice (Say 8 mins) if it doesn’t workout then get officer Powe off the bench to be the enforcer.

I don’t like the sound of “We will have our coin toss later.”

Sounds like Doc is experiencing some lack of confidence.

  7. Whos on your top 5 John?

This isn’t that hard Doc. Start gabe at the point he’s the only option.
    1) he’s the only true point gaurd left after rondo.
    2) he knows the system Marbury doesn’t
    3) House has no dribble & cannot bring up the ball & you know Miami’s Chalmers is going to be all over him
4)Marbury would be better comming off the bech giving Ray a rest where you could slide pruitt or house to the 2.

    Where’s the Staples Easy Button

  8. Tonight, I’d go:

    1 – Chris Herren
    2 – Ray Allen
    3 – Paul Pierce
    4 – Kevinn Pickney
    5 – Popeye Jones

  9. Gabe is awful. He has underachieved his entire stay here. He won’t be in a Celtics uniform next year.

Start Marbury. He may not score a ton if he’s still getting hsi shot back, but he won’t make a ton of mistakes.

Eddie house is fantastic, but he has no business bringing the ball up the court.

  10. Danno, I agree Gabe hasn’t reached his potential in Boston. But do you think it is because of the intense pressure Doc puts on his point guards? We saw signs of Rondo’s lack of confidence during his rookie and sophomore campaigns. But once Rondo understood he was the guy, he started to play like the guy we see now.

I don’t think Doc is great at developing young talent. The young guys seem too tentative and unsure.

  11. I think talent surpasses confidence if you’re legit, and some guys have less talent than originally thought.

Rondo is AMAZINGLY talented. But he also has great confidence. You can see it in someone’s eyes. It’s that fire.

Gabe has no fire. Kinda like Patrick O’Bryant. They look dazed and in awe all the time. Like they know they don’t belong.

  12. 1. Coney Island’s finest
    2. SugarRay
    3. P-Dub
    4. “The Show” Powe
    5. The Beast

Bill Walker should get some serious minutes to let P2 rest.

  13. in the last 20 years or so what was worse starting five we have put out there

  14. I am with you there Danno – Gabe is just passive seems like he is going through the motions.

Who knows maybe he can turn the corner somehow and plays like he belong. He still has lots to proof especially after his DUI arrest.

Giddens needs some minutes too – Seeing him jumping up and down cheerleading our guys on all the time. We need that energy on the court not on the bench.

  15. in the last 20 years or so what was worst starting five we have put out there

  16. Ahh, beautiful memory lane.. Yes! Quickly hand me my anti-depressant pills.

I can give you my Worst 5 of all time

    Marty Colon
    Vin Baker
    Acie Earl
    Brad Lohouse (Spelling?)
    Eric Montross

There are lots more… I can’t do it…. starting to get flashbacks… lol

  18. That’s just Gabe’s demeanor, he’s the anti-KG as far as demeanor. He was that way at USC. It shouldn’t be a knock, “He’s tooooo calm” lol. Remember after the dunk vs. the Kings earlier this season when he yoked on that guy, bench was going nuts, etc.; Gabe was calm, turned his back and got back on defense.

It’s kind of hard to get that inner confidence thing going when you get pulled from a game 2 minutes in for passing up an open shot.

  19. Gabe’s definitely a shy kid. O’Bryant’s a completely different story. He had no hustle whatsoever. But remember back to Leon’s development. He was buried on the bench in 2006-2007 until the Celtics had officially raised the white flag, and when Doc played him, Leon showed he can play. In 2007-2008 Doc still didn’t trust him enough to give him minutes until until he had no choice but to play him halfway through the season (with injuries or whatever it was, I can’t remember). Leon basically fell into Doc’s lap.

But I see what you’re saying about guys needing to have that killer instinct. If you need to coddle a player to get him to be productive, you’ve probably missed an opportunity with some other player who would have seized his opportunity sooner. Competition is fierce in the NBA and there’s no time for hand holding.

Even still, I see a consistent theme with Doc and Rondo, Baby, Leon, O’Bryant, Gabe, Walker and Giddens. Even TA to some extent. Remember in 06-07 when TA was nasty? It was because Doc had nobody else at the position and he basically said to TA “Go out there and play. Don’t worry about screwing up because there ain’t nobody else.” We all know Danny’s got a nose for talented kids. But why can’t these kids crack Doc’s rotation?

  20. I think Gabe could be damn good… just hasn’t had any playing time to get a head of steam going. He’s not going to be a showy player, that’s not his personality. Kinda like Tim Duncan… quiet, self-contained, but efficient and (I think) talented. And in his own way I think he feels it too. Can’t be sure about any of this until he gets thrown into the fray for real, which has never happened.

Doc does have a major flaw when it comes to bringing up and using young talent… takes him way too long and he doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. Same with rotations. If he’s saying it’s a coin toss for Miami then he hasn’t figured it out, which means he is what some of you are saying Gabe is… uncertain and bad (in this area).

  21. I agree DRJ, Gabe does have the talent. His head and confidence has not caught up with his game so far. Maybe the arrest was a wake up call. hard to tell since he gets no time. He did have two rebound in I think two minutes the last game though. Then was pulled…

  22. G4L: My fave 5 is an evolving list. Megan Fox is on it now. Stacy Keibler is on it (she’s pretty much cemented on that list). Bar Rafaeli and Keeley Hazel are on it too. I’m having a tough time with #5. I’ll throw our favorite dancer Alison Preston in at 5… just to be a total homer.

  23. 4 – Kevinn Pickney

My God Kevinn Pinkney… I F’KIN HATE HIM!!!!!

  24. I think Megan Fox is in everyones top 5 now! Pretty good top 5.
