Bynum Clearly Focused on Rehab, Playoffs

Andrew Bynum is working his ass off, rehabbing that knee with the goal of being in top shape for the Lakers playoff run. His sole focus is a championship. Or not:

While the Lakers were in Atlanta preparing for what would be an 86-76 loss to the Hawks on Sunday, Bynum was in Los Angeles mingling at a pajamas and lingerie party after the Playboy Golf Finals.

Wearing a green smoking jacket and slippers, Bynum, whose injury status is generating daily headlines in Los Angeles, partied like a rock star near the infamous grotto.

He picked up Playmate Nicole Narain and placed her on his shoulders and got somebody to take a picture with his digital camera.

  1. It’s all good. The Laker’s trainers assigned him Playboy Bunny-carrying as part of his re-hab.

  2. Oh No – Sasha isn’t going to sit on his lap in the back of the team plane anymore if he finds out he was wearing a green jacket.

  3. I’de do the samething if I were him too. Isn’t he under aged anyways.

  4. Can you blame the guy? Look at that broad, damn.

  5. I’m less and less worries about the Lakers. This is the players they need to win it all? Good luck with that. Rehab and basketball seems to be at the top of his priority list. LOL

  6. Lakerhater, LMAO, great comment. I hate Vujacic

  7. A news post and comments that defy logic.

If you go to a party in the evening, you’re not focusing on working hard during the day. Really?

Nora, I’d be worried less and less about the Lakers when there’s a strong possibility that your team doesn’t make it out of the Division.

    (I’m not a Lakers fan)

  8. you sound an awful lot like one. Obviously not a Celtics fan. Why you are here defies some logic then. Are you a Cavs fan? If so, their is also quite a strong possibility your team doesn’t get to the finals either. It defies logic for a player focusing on recovery to go out partying imo. I would frown on it if a Celtic were to do it also.

  9. I know Dre… and he’s not a Lakers fan.

And I’m on board with the idea that players can be focused on rehab and things like that and still have a good time.

BUT… you have to admit that a guy rehabbing a knee shouldn’t be picking women up, no matter how light they might be, and carrying them around. It just looks bad.

  10. Exact;y, esp. when your team is off playing a game.

  11. Nora, I’m here because I love basketball and I support my friend’s (John K.) endeavor, being this site. I don’t have a favorite team… I tend to appreciate players more than the respective teams they play for.

I don’t see it as a big deal – Bynum’s been running 2’s and 3’s in practice, so lifting ~125lbs. on one’s shoulders is cake. Anyone who has done physical therapy on an injured joint knows there’s more going on in a rehab session than putting weight on your shoulders. Especially on the tail end of the rehab…

What I see here is just an excuse for Celtics fans to stretch a non-story into a story (either due to the fact it’s a Lakers player or that they never had a Playmate on their shoulders or have never been to the Playboy mansion, etc.). Lakers fans do the same tired stuff as well, when it comes to the Celtics…

It would look far worse if this was Bynum cavorting with a Playmate a month ago, I’d agree with that.

Now imagine if he reported back spasms this week… that would be hilarious.

  12. I see it as bad when your team is out playing a game and he is out partying. It’s just wrong to me.

  13. Well its not like he needs to come back and have a great playoff run. He already got paid. I’d take it easy too if I were him.

  14. Bynum is ready to come back. I’ve spoken with him personally. I can see how it pisses people off like you guys mentioned above, but he will practice with the team and return when they get back from their big roadie.
