Rondo Likes to Exaggerate

This Rondo quote courtesy of Scott Souza of the MetroWest Daily News:

“He’s a human first,” he said. “I hope he gets better. I hope he doesn’t rush back just for the playoffs. His injury is pretty serious, so it could probably end his career. He probably has three or four years left, so we want to make sure he has three or four years left and doesn’t come back too soon and have to retire early.”

Probably end his career? Does Rondo know this is a case of tendonitis and loose cartilage? Unless….wait  a minute….is KG’s injury more severe than the Celtics are letting on? Impossible.

PS – John is going to beat the hell out of me for stoking the fires on the KG injury.

  1. I would like to hear from KG himself so we can end most speculation – Rondo’s comment was interesting much different from others.

  2. “Liar Liar Headline”:

I honestly thought Doc was going to have Tony check in the game with under six minutes left in the 4th….. Doc was all ready to let him in then all of a sudden Rajon Rondo’d, Perk Beasted and House went on Fire so Doc held back on subs. That’s why Tony didn’t get time.

  3. Honestly as long as the C’s can play him about 25 minutes a night in the Playoffs I think we’ll be ok.

  4. This sorta makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t help getting the feeling that this is a case of a young player leaking something he shouldn’t have leaked.

  5. I have a feeling this is more over-reaction from a younger guy who is maybe getting sick of every reporter asking them 40 times a day how they are going to win without KG, when they HAVE BEEN winning without KG.

  6. tuka, I don’t think it’s the case that rondo leaked something he shouldn’t have leaked… the audio clip from which that quote was taken from, is now posted on the celtics.com audio archive.

  7. Any chance this is a Rondo April Fools joke?

  8. It could be a strategic move to “trick” other teams into thinking he’s not healthy (ala Bill Belichick).

But if he’s really injured to that extent, there is a lot more than loose cartilage….

  9. Rondo is right on.. this isnt about the celtics winning the championship, its about Kevin Garnetts career now too…his knee isnt right, shows really no signs of getting right, theres reports here and there and everywhere, My opinion is he will not return at 100% this season, and when he returns and plays on it, his risking the longevity of his career, and risking messing up the knee further

KG has been in the league a long time now guys, before he got hurt he was showing signs of slowing down even from the previous season…hes not in his prime anymore, and this injury, and possibly playing through the pain could take alot of production out of his career..period

  10. I think if this was really something that could potentially be a career ender, he would have had the surgery weeks ago.

This very well could be the celtics playing possum.

  11. The injury itself isnt career ending right now, but it hasnt healed like they thought it would, and hes risking injuring it further and effecting his career in the long run if he comes back and attempts to play through a sore unhealed knee injury…he only has 3-4 years max playing at a level comparable to last year as it is, and this injury could shorten his productivity

  12. The guy will be perfectly fine in a couple weeks. Don’t worry about KG.

Changing the subject, did anybody else hear Ray Allen’s interview on Mike & Mike this morning. The story about Jim Calhoun was absolutely the best part of my day.

  13. he’ll be perfectly fine?

I got a bridge to sell

  14. I didn’t stutter Baron…. he will be PERFECTLY fine.
