Anyone know what the hell KG said after Ray’s game winner? And how about that snarl?

How to Dress – By KG
February 10, 2009

KG and I have something in common. We both lay out our clothes for the next day prior to going to bed.

(This video was reportedly made back in 2001, courtesy NESWsports.com)

Danny Ainge tells Mark Murphy there’s nothing imminent on the trade front, yet he did try to talk Alonzo Mourning out of retirement.

“You have to be careful at this time of the year. You have to be careful not to be one of those teams that overreacts at a time like this. But I’m always looking for ways to get better, whether it’s now, in training camp or in November. But you don’t want to make changes just to make changes.”

John disagrees, and says the Celtics have a big problem.

The Globe’s Frank Dell’Apa has more on the Celtics record and schedule. Our next opponent, the New Orleans Hornets lost last night to the Grizzlies – they were without Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler (injuries) and David West (suspension). Charles Barkley is coming back to TNT after the All-Star break.

Is KG a Bully?
November 24, 2008

Here’s a blurb from Mitch Lawrence’s column in the NY Daily News:

Kevin Garnett has been going after smaller guys, including Toronto’s Jose Calderon and Milwaukee’s Luke Ridnour, and it’s starting to hurt his rep. One executive said of Garnett, “He’s nothing but an instigator.” With several teams complaining about Garnett’s antics in recent weeks, the league has taken note.

He’s always yapping and trying to psyche out guys. But I don’t think he picks on smaller guys. Remember he got suspended for his vicious knockout of Andrew Bogut. As for the teams complaining to the league, I have this response:

KG Suspended – What a Load of Crap
November 17, 2008

The NBA announced on Monday that Kevin Garnett will be suspended for one game for hitting Bucks center Andrew Bogut in the face on Saturday.

Bogut didn’t get off, however, with the league also upgrading the foul he committed that started the altercation to a Flagrant 1.

The incident happened late in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 102-97 overtime win in Milwaukee.

Garnett will sit out Tuesday’s game against the New York Knicks in Boston.

KG gets knocked in the mouth….and he’s the one who gets suspended? His retaliation was more flailing of the arms than a punch. It’s a joke…period.

Thanks to ShooterMcGavin for posting the news in our comments….

In an effort to keep everyone smiling though, I’ve got some great cheerleader photos after the jump.

KG Speaks
September 26, 2008

He’s back. Kevin Garnett has emerged from his summer of “mental decompression” to promote the new NBA 2K9 video game. Because the Celtics played more playoff games last season than any team in the history of the NBA, KG eased up on his summer workout schedule. Any chance a “certified” KG will be less thirsty for a title this season?

“Give me a couple more short summers where I feel like with this team, [we] set our mark. Every Celtics team sort of had their run, and its multiples. It’s only right that we set our mark in this league like Timmy [Duncan] has done it with the Spurs, Kobe [Bryant] and Shaq [O’Neal] have done it [with the Lakers]. This is my opportunity to do that. I’m trying to take advantage of it fully right now.”

“I know what I’m anticipating and what this season is about to be like. I trained with the intent that they’re coming [for me]. But guess what, I’m coming, too. We are coming.”

That’s the KG we know and love.

Meanwhile, Sixers coach Mo Cheeks is doing his best to keep his team grounded. The signing of Elton Brand made Philly a popular choice to challenge the Celtics in the East:

To compare us with Boston? C’mon, we have a long way to go,” Cheeks said. “We’re still trying to reach and see where we can go. That’s a long stretch to think we can be the Boston Celtics.”

I was also glad to see that nearly 80% of you want no part of Stephon Marbury playing in Boston.

Anybody get tickets this morning?

In Appreciation Of… Kevin Garnett
July 4, 2008

We are spending some time looking back over the Boston Celtics championship season… in an effort to truly appreciate the efforts of those involved. In our twelfth installment of the series, we continue saluting our starters.

I’ll come right out and say it.

I didn’t like the Kevin Garnett trade when I first heard it. And don’t lie to me right now. More than a few of you out there agreed with me at the time. But that’s because we didn’t know about “KG.”

Kevin Garnett is a name attached to a bunch of statistics that a lot of us thought Al Jefferson might soon be able to duplicate. KG is the irresistible force that permeated the organization and forced everyone to assimilate. It’s a force built on pure emotion, with a hint of psychosis. I can’t really figure out how to explain it, because its indescribable… and so is KG.

Paul’s First Pitch
June 21, 2008

This is part of the pregame celebration of the Boston Celtics World Championship (I’ll NEVER get tired of writing that).  It starts with the team sprinting out of the center field doors… then there’s Paul Pierce whipping a pitch that would have been 3 feet over Big Papi’s head… and then the guys all head into the clubhouse to continue drinking. (Here’s a good clip of how that looked from the crows…. and Here’s a clip of the duckboats driving around the field in the pouring rain)

Some observations:  These guys were flat out giddy.  I know those were grown men… but what makes this whole thing so awesome is that they’re acting like any of us would act out there.  They were jumping around… laughing and joking… being goofy.

And all of that… all of the legitimate joy and celebration… makes this championship more special (at least to me).  The Sox were almost more relieved than anything… and the Pats were following the lead of stoic Bill Belichick.  The C’s, however, are acting like happy little kids out there… and I love it.  It is sports after all… and they’re enjoying the hell out of the moment.

Then again… a lot of those guys were probably drunk (did anyone hear KG’s interview from the pre-party?  Definitely buzzed.  Someone get that clip onto YouTube.. STAT!)… so that probably helped

“My Best Opportunity Of Winning Them Rings”
June 18, 2008

Thanks to reader I Bleed Green in LA (Note:  How much are YOU loving life right now???) for bringing up this video again.  He’s right… it really means something now.

I remember getting tingles when I saw that ad the first time (although, that’s actually the first minute-long version I’ve seen).  This time… I got more than tingles.

Seriously.  How awesome is today?

KG Is Emotional
June 18, 2008

Kevin Garnett is simply not human.  The look on his face beginning at the 8 second mark of this video is insane.  And I don’t mean “wow, that’s awesome” insane.  I mean “this guy might be performing a satanic ritual” insane.

I never, ever, expected this in the KG trade.  Never.  Not even close.  This level of emotion is impossible to comprehend.  So all we can do is enjoy it.

Lets start with this… WBZ-TV’s locker room video… KG kicks it off very nicely

These next two videos, of course, via Odenized.

Enough Already… KG Gets It
June 12, 2008

You can’t hear anything about the Celtics now without getting a “and KG needs to get into the post!” sort of comment.

Valid point… now we can all stop making it.  KG gets it.  He’s answered the “aggressiveness” question about a thousand times since Game 3.  He answered it again yesterday (at the 1:20 mark… preceded by a great jab at Kobe by Pierce).

But as we’ve said before… this has been KG’s game for pretty much his whole career.  Yes, he got away from the post too much in Game 3… but he’s been taking jumpers all year.  They’ll start to fall.

Expect a big game from KG tonight.  I’ve heard almost all of his interviews since Game 3… and he’s talking about making the right adjustments.
